What information does i-counseling collect and how
is it used?
Personal User Information
i-counseling collects required personally
identifiable data such as, but not limited to, name, email address,
mailing address, phone number, and a self-chosen password when you
register on our website. Primarily, this data facilitates the interactive
environment that makes i-counseling's continuing
education list functional. In addition, we use your data for our
records to communicate with you, as well as verification of completed
courses for professional organizations (see Information Sharing
below). We also collect data during our course quizzes that is linked
to each user. This information allows users to retake a quiz that
was not passed. i-counseling does not
store your score data once an examination is passed. A "passed
status" is linked with the personal user information.
Demographic Information
i-counseling requests required and optional
information, various input from users both at the time of registration
and at later intervals. The demographic information collected includes
education, credentials, and other data that aids i-counseling's
research. This information is linked to the personally identifiable
information of each user. In addition, a course evaluation is offered
after passing the quiz. This data is not linked to a specific user
but is aggregate information for the betterment of future and existing
courses.
Cookies
This website uses cookies to automate interactive features. A cookie
is a small text file stored by your web browser on your computer.
These cookies do not compromise your security. The use of cookies
allows the user to login with an email address and password once
per session to avoid having to login multiple times during an i-counseling
visit, especially in reference to the page with the continuing education
courses. If the user chooses to not accept cookies, the interactive
sections of the courses will not function. The i-counseling
cookies are removed automatically at the end of each session to
prevent users of public computers from accessing your profile.
Log File Information
i-counseling collects standard log file
information to continually administer our website. Web Trends software
processes collected log file information including, but not limited
to, IP address, number of times a page is viewed, number of sessions
during which a page is viewed, and browser type. These pieces of
information are collected to administer the website, identify and
resolve problems, and analyze trends by gathering broad demographic
information for aggregate use. Log file information is not linked
to personal user information.
